The Web CoE generally follows the recommended campus Editorial and Style Guide with a few exceptions that provide clarity for our users. Exceptions include:
- Serial commas should be used before the final “and” in all lists of three or more items to prevent ambiguity and avoid confusion.
- Acronyms and abbreviations should be written out in full the first time they are used in the text, with the acronym or abbreviation in parenthesis. Ex: “The World Health Organization (WHO) released a report on the pandemic.”
- Heading styles should be title case to improve readability and help readers differentiate between headings and body content.
